PURPOSE 1
There has been a recent volcano eruption in Guatemala, and due to this, many families have been evacuated from their homes, left with nothing and are living in inhumane conditions. For this year's Christmas trip, we will participate in putting together 72-hour kits to help cover basic necessities. These kits will to be taken to families in need due to this natural disaster while they await help from the government. The 72-hour kits will contain the following:
-drinking water
-food supply (oatmeal, soup, rice, and other non-perishables)
-blankets
-first aid kits and supplies
-hand sanitizer
-personal hygiene items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush & paste, deodorant, lotion, lip balm, etc.)
-a complete set of clothing
-shoes
-crayons, small stuffed animals, books or games for children
-toilet paper or tissue
-snacks (jerkey, crackers, fruit rolls, trail mix, granola bars, raisins, candies, etc.)
-medicine (Tylenol, ibuprofene etc.)
-diapers & wet wipes
You may send material donations of any of these items listed, or you may send monetary donations so that we may purchase the items. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
This December 2012 will be our first Christmas trip and we have 3 goals in mind. It will be two weeks of hard work but also two weeks of happiness for many children and we hope for your support! You are invited to participate in the Giving Joy program (Christmas Trips) by travelling or supporting this program from home.
PURPOSE 2
installation of doors and windows, purchasing and moving of beds for the orphanage “Niños de Guatemala”.
PURPOSE 3
this Christmas we would love to bring smiles to the faces of children in need. We need your help to wrap and take presents and donations, and accompany Santa Claus to hand out gifts to children and families in poorer villages as well as towns that were most affected by the volcano eruption. We will also be travelling to Monterico so that volunteers can help Santa Claus hand out Christmas presents to children in areas such as El Pumpo and Las Quechas as well.
